Resident VISA!
Last week we went to the immigration office to submit our papers for residency. We had to take the twins with us! We arrived and went to the counter where it said 'Foreigners Applications'. Mozambicans do not believe in orderly queues so we joined the people already there! Eventually we spoke to the man behind the desk who sent us to the other side where the sign said 'Passport Collection'! Sure enough that was the place to submit our papers!! Well, 2 hours later we were coming out having submitted our papers - thankfully we were successful!! We also had to get our photos & fingerprints taken! Even the twins had to get their photo taken! An official had to come and hold them while another one TRIED to get a photo of them!! We also had an audience of people watching and sniggering at the officials!! Joshua made quite an impression! As we came out of the office a car pulled up and a man shouted out the window 'Ola Joshua'. He had been in the office and Joshua had made friends with him!! As we left we were also minus 2000 pounds!! It costs 500 pounds per person, per year to get a residents visa! There is no reduction for children!!! Everything here is so expensive!! Pray that we will get our VISA back this Thursday as promised. We hope to take a trip to South Africa next weekend if we have our residency visa!
